Alfred Hitchcock's first thriller was his third
silent film The Lodger in 1926.It was
a story about Jack the Ripper. A lot of British directors made
thrillers in the early stages of the thriller genre such as Walter
Forde, Victor Saville, and George A. Cooper. Hitchcock was following a strong
British trend in his choice of genre.
